Western Saints of the Orthodox Church
FABIOLA, a Roman aristocrat who divorced her abusive husband, and then remarried. Following the death of her second husband, St. Fabiola was reconciled to the Church, and devoted her life to repentance and charity. Friends with SS. Jerome (30th September) and Paula of Rome (26th January), St. Fabiola made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and it is believed even considered remaining there as hermit. St. Fabiola reposed in A.D. 399.
Prior to the Schism the Patriarchate of Rome was Orthodox, and fully in communion with the Orthodox Church. As Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco +1966 said “The West was Orthodox for a thousand years, and her venerable Liturgy is far older than any of her heresies”.
